As a Launch Strategist, I know that at the heart of every successful launch is a solid offer. Good offers make my job easy because they’re strategically designed to sell with minimal effort. Good offers will solve a problem or fulfil a desire for your ideal client in a way that feels do-able & exciting for them. They’ll also have evidence that the methodology used in the offer works and the outcome is clear and easy for a potential client to visualize.
Great launches need a solid foundation to build upon – and it all begins with the right offer for your audience. There are three key steps to follow when determining your offers. Following these steps will ensure that you have a streamlined and clear customer journey for your business that’s repeatable, sustainable, and scalable over time. Ready to dive in? Grab this free workbook before you start so you can go through the offer creation process in real-time as you read each step.
If you’ve been in business for a while, you’ve probably already got a few offers that you’re selling. You’ve probably been creating content for a while too and chances are you’re known for something. What do you talk about often & what do your friends, colleagues and audience go to you for advice about? This is probably the best place to start when you’re deciding on your offer. It’s also very likely that this is already where you’ve seen the most success in your business or where your clients have had the most success when working with you.
If you’re new to business – this might not be so cut and dry. The good news is that you get to decide what you’re known for – and the best place to start is to think about what you LOVE to do. What lights you up the most in your business and what could you talk about for hours on end without getting bored?
Reputation & passion are a powerful combination that ensures you get noticed AND sustain the energy you need to talk about your offer over and over again without losing interest or energy. This combination also allows you to become a thought leader in the area of your offer and people naturally gravitate toward people who confidently talk about their work & the results they get for their clients.
The floor is yours – what are you going to do to command the stage?
Once you’re clear on what you’re known for and what you love to share – it’s time to consider how you’ve helped others solve a problem or fulfil a desire through working with you. Where do your clients have the most success when they work with you and do you have a system that you’re using to help them be successful? This is the perfect place to start building the content of your offer.
Consider how you’re currently supporting your clients through transformation – do you offer 1:1 support right now? Is there a way to take that work and create a group offering or online course that could lead several people through your system at the same time?
If you don’t have any offers yet – there are a few ways to create a methodology or system that you can sell to your audience. The first is to utilize tools you’ve learned in a training program – like a coaching (or any) certification. Usually, programs like this will have a methodology that you can use with your clients. Another way to develop a methodology is to consider what you’ve done to get where you are today, especially if you’re building a business around your own success within your niche, and create a step-by-step journey you can take clients through in order to have the kind of success you’ve experienced.
Offers that come from a proven methodology are ideal because you’ll have testimonials from previous clients, comfort and clarity around the process in order to speak on it clearly and you’ll have the confidence of already having success with what you’re selling. If you’re testing a new methodology, you could create what’s called a BETA offer as a way to test your system for a lower introductory price in exchange for feedback or testimonials.
After you’ve determined the content of your offer, the next step is to decide what kind of offer you want to create. There are so many different ways to package your unique magic into an offer and the best place to begin is to think about the entire client journey from when they first learn you exist all the way to your premium high ticket offer. What transformation has to happen along each step of the journey in order to feel ready for the next?
Starting with the lowest investment offer – a freebie.
I always suggest starting with a freebie because you can use this to build your email list, build trust with your audience, give them a quick win, and share a taste of what it’s like working with you.
Depending on what offers you already have – you may want to develop a 1:1 offer next.
Good offers are NOT just bells and whistles with extra bonuses on top. Good offers ARE the manifestation of your brilliance & a way for your audience to experience your expertise firsthand. Being very very good at what you do will make your offer irresistible AND profitable for you.
The next offer you can develop is a “signature offer” – this may be a course, membership, or a group program. This offer is a way for you to share the methodology you use with a larger cohort of clients at once.
Finally, you may have a few ideas that will fill in the space between your freebie and your signature offer (if you find your audience isn’t quite ready to invest in your signature offer) or ideas that are part of your work but not central to your methodology. These ideas can become mini offers or low price point offers. This might include workshops, mini-courses, boot camps, or products like journals or templates your audience may find useful.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, I get it – these can seem like big decisions to be making. Remember that the goal isn’t to have an entire offer suite built out and ready to sell immediately. You can start small & get really good at what you do and the next best offer will become clear along the way. You’ll start to notice gaps in your client’s journey from seeing your content to making their first purchase with you. This is where you can explore new offers & create a business that is founded on your best work, your curiosity, and your passion for serving your niche. Ideally, your business is something that you LOVE to talk about and share everywhere you go because your willingness to share will ensure your offers sell like hotcakes!
