Have you been putting off getting your welcome sequence done? This is for you!
There are three funnels that I suggest all online business owners have to streamline & automate their client journey.
Because, If you don’t make offers – you won’t make sales.
My suggestion is to start with the opt-in funnel! This is the best way to get folks into your orbit and the perfect opportunity to tell them about your offers!
When someone has decided to opt-in to your email list, they are a WARM lead and they are INTERESTED in the work you do. If you’ve created the RIGHT opt-in for the RIGHT audience, this is a perfect opportunity to sell your offer! You don’t have to warm them up or educate them – a GOOD lead is ready to buy. (I’ll share future posts about how to identify the RIGHT audience to sell to – hint, they don’t need warming up or convincing, they are looking for you and ready to buy)
What is a welcome sequence? It’s a series of 5-7 emails that you send automatically to a new lead when they opt-in to your email list. This series of emails will serve a couple of purposes.
You can also use your welcome sequence to encourage a two-way conversation & engage with your new lead by inviting them to reply to your emails. This is a great opportunity to check in and ask why they opted-in to your list and what they are most interested in learning about.
Let’s dive into the 5 emails I like to write when I’m creating a welcome sequence for my clients.
This is a short & sweet email that serves the purpose of confirming that your subscriber was successful in joining your list and will deliver their freebie if they opted in to receive something from you.
Send this email immediately after they opt-in to your list.
Send this email an hour later to introduce yourself & share about the work you do and what they can expect from you.
When you write this email, focus your language on the reader. Share how your work will help them & what the benefits of being on your email list are. You may also invite your lead to reply to your email & share what their biggest struggle is when it comes to your niche (something related to the opt-in) or what they’d like to learn from you.
You may also want to invite your lead to follow you on social media as a p.s. on this email.
Use this email to deliver an additional piece of support content related to your freebie or your work in general. This could be a PDF or additional information that you are often asked about.
You could use this as an opportunity to direct your new lead to content you’ve created like blog posts, YouTube videos or podcasts.
Schedule this email 3 days after the Introduction
Share a personal story that relates to your offer or a client story/testimonial. This is an opportunity for your lead to see themselves in the story and understand how your work can support them.
In the P.S. you can invite the reader to check out your offer or book a discovery call with you
Send this email 3 days after the Surprise email.
Start this email by checking in on how they are doing with the freebie you gave them. Then take time to share about the work you do, tell them about your offer and the outcome your lead can expect to have if they invest in working with you. You’ll want to let them know what their next steps are so they can move forward with working with you.
Send this email 1 day after the story email.
When you write your welcome sequence, write as though you’re talking to a friend. Try not to be overly formal, or use cliché or unclear language.
Your brand voice should sound like YOU and it should convey your personality and vibe throughout.
One thing I like to do before writing for a client is to ask ChatGPT to analyze the brand voice in a few of their popular Instagram posts. After I compile a list of attributes based on the responses from ChatGPT, I’ll run this by my client to check the accuracy.
I also check in to see if there are words or phrases they would NEVER use in conversation or in their business. I make note of all of this and use this information to write the welcome emails.
When you’re writing for yourself – you can take time to think about your brand voice before writing so that your emails sound like YOU!
